Christian Music Interviews

Artist Interview: Jaymie Bellet – ArtistPR.com

Tell us about yourself and your music

I’m a singer-songwriter inspired of God to convey His words to my listeners. The lyrics are mostly Scripture and the melodies seem to fit themselves around the verses the Lord puts into my head for special songs. Some are from the Psalms, some are prophetic, some are even fun as well as having a message. I didn’t start in this endeavor until I was in my 40s. You just never know.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest release is entitled O Israel. It contains 6 tracks that range from folk/rock, like the title track O Israel, written by a dear friend of mine, to the last track titled Yeshua is Our Feast (Jesus’s Hebrew name). That track was a combination of 2 other songs that just never came together right in the studio. I woke up singing it and it was quite a surprise. I think it’s a whole new genre – I call it the “Messianic Calypso Gospel”. You be the judge. Shalom

What inspired you to write this release?

It was 2 other songs combined. One was about how God can furnish a table for us ‘in the wilderness’ – wherever that may be. Another song described how Yeshua (Jesus) fulfilled the Feasts described in Scripture, and that He is ‘our Feast’, furnished by God for us. But the sound of these 2 songs was nothing like the track Yeshua Is Our Feast!

Any plans to release a video?

There is one from my first release called No One Ever Spoke Like This Man:

Any plans to hit the road?

Not at this time. I do dream of going to Israel to sing unto the Lord in the land.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

Since I’m more what you’d call lead of the Spirit, I don’t really put any thought into branding myself. There is a genre called Messianic music, which consists of Jewish believers in Jesus creating various styles of worship music. That’s how I would brand myself if I had to.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Paul Wilbur, who is a staple in the Messianic music community.

Tell us about your passions

Dogs, horses, coffee!

What else is happening next in your world?

Seeing what other music ministries may open up here in Pennsylvania where I now live.

Thanks for an awesome interview, Jaymie!
