Christian Music Interviews

Artist Interview: Robin Damron II

Tell us about yourself and your music

I’m a husband and father of 5 out of central Ohio. I have had a passion for music for music since the age of 12. I grew up listening and loving vocal harmony bands such as Plus One and N*Sync, and later descovered a passion for electronic music by listening to artists such as Capital Kings. I feel these passions reflect in my music, as I like to sing (and rap) to beats and melodies that I create on my laptop in my home studio.

Talk to us more about your latest release

Hope is the first song that I have created that actually follows music theory. Before this song, I understood chords, but I didn’t understand which notes belong and don’t belong in a specific key. I felt something was missing in my music so I sought to find out what it was. After discovering music theory and sticking to it, I feel that music production has become much simpler for me than it ever was before.

What inspired you to write this release?

I wanted to make a song that really spoke about the hope that I have in Jesus Christ, that no matter what is going on around me, I can still remain positive and hopeful in every circumstance, because He holds me and keeps me safe.

Any plans to release a video?

At this time I am working on an EP and which is where I want to focus my time. Eventually I do hope to release a music video for at least one of my tracks.

Any plans to hit the road?

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I am still looking for the answer to this question. What I can say has made a difference for me is proper genre labeling. Even if you feel like you have something that’s different than most music out there, I encourage you to consider which audience you have the most influence on and label your music accordingly. Who knows, it could help you get on a few more Spotify playlists.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Well I feel like I am always listening to Capital Kings. Lately I’ve been listening to other indie artists on Amplifier4JC radio as well as Anthem Lights and some Owl City.

Tell us about your passions

My passions, well first and foremost is my faith. My faith is what drives my music, my family life and my relations with others. It’s what encourges me to work hard at everything that I do. I’ve also been skateboarding for years, so I’ve gotten pretty good at that.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m currently working on a new EP! I hope to have it out soon but I haven’t set a release date yet. Look for a worldwide release on Amazon, iTunes and more. You can follow me on Instagram to keep up to date with all my music happenings @robindamroniimusic.

Thanks for an awesome interview, Robin!
